Tonight is a big night for our Pirates! Baseball heads to Wheaton while, Volleyball hosts Fordland. 🏈 And things are gearing up for the FIRST Jr. High Football game at Crane as we take on Lighthouse Christian Academy! We want to give a huge thank you to the City of Crane for bringing over bleachers from the ballfields so fans can cheer on our Pirates tonight. Another big shoutout goes to Crane Youth Sports for their dedication in reviving football in our community. We say “reviving,” because after flipping through old yearbooks, we discovered that Crane first had football back in 1943–1950! (We’re still missing the 1933–1942 books—if anyone has them, we’d love to know if football appeared even earlier! 😉) Check out the photos we found! We hope to see everyone tonight supporting one of the three Pirate teams! Go Pirates!

Our Jr High and High School August Students of the Month are Annabelle Howell and Abbie Wells. About Annabelle, her teachers shared: I appreciate that Annabelle tries her best and never complains. A student was struggling the other day with an assignment and Annabelle did not hesitate to help out. About Abbie, her teachers shared: Abbie exhibited attentiveness, curiosity, and wonder at new & potentially challenging theories in our World History class. I could see her brain crunching on the new information, and I love it when I see that. Students don’t need to believe all scientific theories, but they do need to be aware of them. She'll be a fun, engaging partner in this year's world study. She'll also be a leader in class discussions. Good on her!
Thank you for a great start to the new school year Annabelle and Abbie!
