Last Friday, March 4th, students Skye Lasiter and Griffin Pointer represented FACS' foods classes at Missouri State University in a cooking competition! Students competed against 10 other schools during the competition. They had 15 minutes to plan what they were going to make, and in the last five minutes a last minute ingredient was added in. Griffin and Skye chose to make chicken alfredo. Even though we did not place in the top three we had a great time and they did a wonderful job! We even came home with a brand new set of knives. Great job Skye and Griffin! Enjoy the photos from the competition!

Mrs. Moore's 7th grade English students have really been showing their creativity! After their country of choice research papers, the students were able to make a creative project based on an item or tradition from the country they had just researched. Some of the favorites were Sophie's traditional New Guinea festival mask (modeled by Whitney), Maverick's Scottish game of tug-of-war, and Kamdyn's Peruvian guinea pig festival costumes (where they dress up their guinea pigs... and then cook and eat them 😳 we skipped that second part 😅).

Our 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year for Crane R-III Schools is High School English teacher, yearbook sponsor, and junior class co-sponsor Ms. Alyssa Knight! Ms. Knight gives her all to Crane Schools. Her passion in everything she does with and for our students does not go unnoticed. Whether she is in her haven of a classroom where students learn to love or at least like reading again or at an event capturing our most precious moments, Alyssa Knight is a gem of a Pirate. Congratulations!

Students had more work to add to our refrigerator space this week. We have some great writing going on in the Elementary!
Oaklynn and Liliana wrote facts about cheetahs, organizing their writing with a topic sentence, facts, and a closing sentence.
Ava, Caspen, and MJ wrote an opinion piece, with supporting sentences explaining why they liked a dragon or unicorn better.
Ms. Swearingen had nine super spellers this week.
Way to do your best!

Our fridge space is getting full because our Crane Elementary students did some more really great work this week!
2nd grade started this week off strong with many students scoring 4s on their math assessments and their spelling tests.
Adlie scored an 11/11 on her telling time quiz, answering all questions independently.
Kindergarten has been working on writing complete sentences independently. Cami wrote two sentences about chips. Alaina, Harper, Malakai, and Jace wrote their opinion of why math is the best.
1st grade wrote facts about polar bears, organizing their reports by writing a topic sentence, facts, and then a closing sentence. Sola and Sadie did just that, with sentences that follow the conventions of writing.
Jax earned a 113% on his Three Branches of Government test- the highest percentage earned in all of 4th grade!
Riley added his five paragraph essay about farming (something he knows a lot about) to our work space.
This is the second time Joseph's work has been displayed on our fridge. This time, for scoring a 4 on his measurement math quiz.
Reed scored a 100% on his point of view quiz, recognizing key words to help identify who was "telling" each of the stories.
Annabeth earned a 100% on her angles, points, line segments, and rays quiz. When it comes to angles, she is acute-ly aware!
Curtis, Kenson, and Paisley were the last students to add their work to the space. They wrote facts about African Elephants in a well organized paragraph.
Keep up the great work!

We love it when our students get creative, so when Jr High English teacher Mrs. Moore's students made the most of their creative projects after their essays about countries of their choice, we had to share. Mrs. Moore chose the following projects to share: Sophie made a traditional festival mask from Papua New Guinea (modeled by Whitney), and Maverick got the class to play tug of war which is a Scottish tradition.

The Crane Golf team had a strong start to the season, competing in our first tournament of the year at Island Green. It was an excellent opportunity for our players to showcase their skills, focus, and commitment to the game. Our team demonstrated remarkable teamwork and perseverance, and we are proud of their efforts throughout the day. As we look ahead to the rest of the season, we remain focused on continuing to improve and building on this solid foundation.
