Our Jr High and High School August Students of the Month are Annabelle Howell and Abbie Wells. About Annabelle, her teachers shared: I appreciate that Annabelle tries her best and never complains. A student was struggling the other day with an assignment and Annabelle did not hesitate to help out. About Abbie, her teachers shared: Abbie exhibited attentiveness, curiosity, and wonder at new & potentially challenging theories in our World History class. I could see her brain crunching on the new information, and I love it when I see that. Students don’t need to believe all scientific theories, but they do need to be aware of them. She'll be a fun, engaging partner in this year's world study. She'll also be a leader in class discussions. Good on her! Thank you for a great start to the new school year Annabelle and Abbie!

Reminder for families that plan on utilizing Boys & Girls Club. BGC will be open starting Tuesday 8/26/25. Parents/Guardians MUST call the school and give permission for your child(ren) to start attending BGC. If you do not call the school, your child will do what they have previously been doing for after school transportation. The elementary phone number is 417-723-5300 ext. 902. Our final introductions for the Jr High and High School are the office & administrative team. We are one tight-knit group who will be more than a little sad at the end of this school year! We are looking forward to a great year of supporting our students, teachers, and parents.
Please know that traffic will be heavy around our building, and car lines will be congested the first few days. *To help with some of the congestion up front, if you have older elementary students that eat breakfast, they can be dropped off at the high school doors.
**Parents of PRESCHOOLERS and KINDERGARTENERS may walk their child into the building, to the JH Gym, on the first day only.**
We have a strong group of coaches and PE teachers in the Jr High and High School! There are still a few more coaches not pictured in this post because of the many hats they wear. We are grateful for all of them!

If you have a child attending our 3-year-old program this year, you will need to stop by and visit with Ms. Kelsey at our open house THIS Thursday (8/14)! She will be set up outside of Mrs. Lawson's classroom with all the information you will need for our Parents as Teachers program. Here you can sign up for our PAT program and get valuable information for the upcoming year. If you are unable to attend open house, please look for information coming home with your student during our first week.

Remember that incoming 8th graders and seniors will need their updated, required immunizations for the new school year. If your child hasn't gotten theirs yet, there will be a shot clinic in Galena at 109 East 4th Street on Monday, August 18th from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
