Tomorrow, Friday, May 10th, is our assemblies day for the Jr High and High School. We will start off the day with our awards assembly at 8:00 am followed by our Seniors' traditional "Decision Day" at approximately 10:00 to 10:30. Decision Day is an opportunity for our seniors to be recognized for what they will be doing after graduation, be it college, trade school, or joining the workforce. It is a great opportunity for our underclassmen to see the various options they have to consider! Parents are welcome to attend!

Our Jr High and High School students of the month for April are Junior, Landyn Dickens, and 8th grader Addyson Custer! About Landyn, his teachers shared: This student has turned his educational journey around and now consistently strives hard for excellence in his toughest class. He also, especially back when we were working to pass the US Constitution test, is beneficially influential with his peers. He helped encourage quite a few to study and do their best on this difficult exam as well. He has shown a lot of personal and intellectual growth since his Freshman year. This growth includes working after school two days a week with Mr. Wecker to improve his Algebra skills so he can challenge himself with tougher classes next year. About Addyson, her teachers shared: 1) She is always cheerful and has a good attitude. She patiently helps her fellow students when she understands a concept that they do not. She's a great student! 2) Addyson is very kind, ambitious, and helpful. She often joins in class discussion and asks questions. She is always respectful to faculty and her peers. She is a wonderful student to have! Thank you for being so great, Landyn and Addyson!

Our VoTech students, who attend Gibson Technical Center every day, had a successful morning at their awards assembly in Reeds Spring. There's a reason we were recognized as the "Sending School of the Year" and these kids are it! We had 8 of our Crane students inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (Jeffery Bain, Daven Cutbirth, Calen & Brayden Faucett, Jacie Foster, Natalie Hash, Coy Page and Caleb Hooper), 2 received "Distinguished Student" awards (Kaden McKnight & Daven Cutbirth), 2 received recognition for perfect attendance (Heather Willhite & Calen Faucett who has had perfect attendence for both of his years at Gibson), 2 recognized for their work in internship positions (Natalie Hash & Coy Page), and Jeffery Bain received a $400 scholarship from Gibson Tech! We are proud of all of you!

Prom 2024 was "Starry Night" fun! The junior class worked hard to pay for the event by selling ice cream, working concessions, and volunteering at SDC. Thanks to the whole community for helping put money in our account! The young ladies on the Prom Committee (Lorene Mease, Savannah McKinley, Drew Chisam, Makayla Kerr, Nicole McDowell, Hunter Cleveland, Abbi Wells, Alyssa Keller, Leah Boulton, Sayd Vaught, & Lily Woodward) worked hard to make all the selections and choices that turned a blank canvas into an elegant, starry space. Thank you so much to Chad Vaught and Eric East for bouncing around on ladders to hang our "stars". Mr. Mullins did the same to get them down. Thanks also to Chad for transporting all the balloons we blew up on Friday. We blew up over a 1000. Kara McKnight, Cara McKinley, Braylon Merritt, Sonja Merritt, and Marcy Larimore helped the prom committee decorate in the morning, and Beth Funcannon, Melody and Jeremy Mullins, Karen Faucett, Joe and Jenni Brown, Tara Mease, and Kylie and Eric Shoenberger helped us chaperone the event. They also helped us clear away the decor in an hour (it was aerobic cleaning), after prom. The seniors voted for David Murray and Anna Giacobazzi to be our King and Queen, and both seemed super surprised! Lastly, Ms. Knight spent the whole day and a half before the event helping us blow up balloons, decorating the portrait backgrounds, and taking portraits during the event. She also spent countless hours making sure the Prom slideshow was amazing...and it was! Now, all we need to do next year is make a prom for our upcoming seniors that feels as successful. The Crane community is awesome, so I'm sure we can!

Greetings Pirates! Prom photos have been posted to the junior and senior Google Classrooms. Also, as we head into the end of the 2023-2024 school year, I wanted to share a preview of some of the incredible work our yearbook students have made for this year's theme [Our Adventure Book]. I also want to remind everyone that, while we can't share all our event pictures throughout the year as that is the primary value of the yearbook, every book comes packed with QR codes that you can scan to access all the photos, videos, slideshows, and more we captured throughout the school year. Don't miss out on these memories for years to come, and make sure you order your yearbook before the deadline! Yearbook orders are open until June 2024. All yearbook orders are conducted online as our publisher does not accept cash or check payments. Please view the attached photo[s] for details and/or visit our online yearbook store at [https://shop.yearbookmarket.com/craneelementaryandhighschool]. Questions and assistance with yearbook ordering may be directed to Wagner Portrait Group. Their customer service request form [https://www.wagnerportraitgroup.com/csform] is the easiest way to get in touch, but they also have a customer service phone number [314.567.5900]. Any other questions may be directed to the yearbook advisor, Ms. Knight, at knighta@crane.k12.mo.us.
